The two Super Eagles stars were in action for their respective clubs, but they could be swapping League places at the end of the season
Ola Aina was in Premier League action, but Fulham’s survival hopes took another blow after losing 1-0 to Wolves at Craven Cottage.
Scott Parker’s had the chance to move out of the relegation zone with a victory, but Adama Traore’s strike in the second minute of added time sealed the three points for Nuno Espirito’s men.
Aina was on the pitch, but he had little impact on the game. The 24-year-old had a 78% pass accuracy while he only attempted one cross from his full-back position.
Meanwhile, his international compatriot, Josh Maja, came on as a second-half substitute in the encounter. The result leaves Fulham three points from safety with just six games to play.
While Aina and Maja are staring at relegation, Super Eagles captain William Troost Ekong is close to achieving his dream of playing in the English top-flight after Watford edge closer to promotion with a 2-0 win over Reading at Vicarage Road.
The 27-year-old joined the Hornets from Udinese last summer to help the team gain an immediate return to the Premier League.
Ismaila Sarr’s brace on Friday night edges the team closer, with Watford now eight points clear of third-placed Brentford, although Brentford has two games in hand.
Ekong started the encounter against the Royals but was taken off for Craig Cathcart in the 70th minute. The ex-Bursaspor defender played his part, though, with another solid defensive display.
And with just five games to go for Watford, Ekong is well on course to fulfil his dream of playing in the English Premier League.
