Preparations are in full gear ahead of Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers against The Benin Republic on Saturday
The Super Eagles stars are currently in camp ahead of their final two Afcon qualifiers, and Soccernet can exclusively confirm that the players are in high spirits.
Soccernet’s chief editor was at Eko Hotels and Suites, where the team is currently camped, on Wednesday and Thursday to monitor the team’s activities ahead of their trip to Port Novo on Friday.
The team had their second training session on Wednesday evening at the Teslim Balogun, where they will take on Lesotho on March 30th after their game against Benin.
However, unlike the opening training session on Tuesday, which was made available to the public, Wednesday’s session was behind closed doors.
The team’s media officer, Femi Raji, told Soccernet that subsequent training sessions would also be behind closed doors as it is necessary they observe Covid-19 protocols.
Following their training session, which ended around 5:30 pm on Wednesday, the team arrived at the hotel around 7:30 pm.
However, they did not have their dinner as usual as they had another engagement. The team were hosted at a dinner by Lagos state Governor Sanwo Olu at the Government House in Marina.
We held a reception for our dear Super Eagles at the State House in Lagos as they prepare for their AFCON Qualifiers.
Football is a national treasure for us as Nigerians and Lagos has historically favoured the Super Eagles so we wished them well with prayers and good cheer. pic.twitter.com/dsiYH7huEq
