The Super Eagles defender got his second league goal of the campaign to give Scott Parker’s men the lead at Burnley
Days after compatriot Josh Maja netted a brace to secure an astonishing 2-0 win for Fulham at Everton, Nigerian international Ola Aina found the back of the net to help the visitors secure a 1-1 draw at Burnley on Wednesday evening.
After a goalless first 45 minutes, Aina opened the scoring for Fulham from a corner four minutes into the second half and celebrated his second EPL strike despite knowing very little about the goal.
Andersen’s flick at the near post hit Aina in the chest, and it seemed to confuse everyone in the Burnley defence. The ball was allowed to bounce towards goal and Brady’s clearance went the wrong way and into the back of the net.
Aina cared little, though, as the on-loan Torino fullback became the second Nigerian star to contribute to Fulham’s survival hopes in the space of a few days.
Recall that only three days ago, another Super Eagles star Josh Maja netted a second-half brace – Aina provided the assist to the first goal – on his full debut for Fulham to guide them to an astonishing 2-0 over Everton at the Goodison Park.
Unfortunately for Scott Parker’s men this time, Ashley Barnes equalized three minutes later for the home side to set up an intriguing final half-hour at the Turf Moor.
There were to be no further goals, however, as both teams settled for a share of the spoils.
It’s a valuable point though for the Cottagers, who have now move to within six points of 17th placed Newcastle and safety.
