The Nigerian international has struggled for form this season, but he was on target in Les Canaries French top-flight clash at Stade Raymond Kopa
Super Eagles star Moses Simon opened the scoring for Nantes in their 3-1 win over Angers in the French Ligue 1.
Simon put Les Canaries ahead in the fourth minute, finishing off a superb pass from, French midfielder, Ludovic Blas.
It was Simon’s third goal in 19 Ligue 1 matches this season. The Nigerian international is yet to hit last season’s form, which saw him won the club fans player of the year and also earned him a four-year contract at Stade de la Beaujoire.
However, he would hope this goal set him off on a brilliant run of form for the rest of the season. Nantes took full control against their hosts after Imran Louza penalty in the seventh minute doubled their advantage.
Angers were offered an opportunity to pull one back when they were awarded a penalty in the 31st minute, but Sofiane Boufal could not convert from the spot.
But in dramatic fashion, the hosts were awarded another penalty two minutes later, and this time Thomas Mangani fired home to reduce the deficit.
However, Kader Bamba’s strike in the 86th minute killed all hopes of a comeback and ensured Nantes would not be denied their first league win of 2021
Despite the win, Nantes remain in the relegation, but they are now just a point shy of Lorient in 17th place.
