The Nigerian midfielder has struggled with injuries in recent times, and he once again could not finish the first half of the Foxes draw at Everton

Wilfred Ndidi featured for just 42 minutes of Leicester City’s thrilling 1-1 draw at Everton, as injury forced the Super Eagles midfielder to be withdrawn.

Everton had the upper hand in the opening stages of the encounter and made their dominance count when James Rodriguez found the target on the half-hour mark.

Leicester City responded brilliantly to go behind by seizing control of the tie and forcing the hosts’ goalkeeper into making a couple of saves.

But Ndidi momentarily took the sails off the visitors’ charge when he went down minutes before the halftime break.

After receiving medical treatment, it was decided the 24-year-old could not continue the game and was replaced by Nampalys Mendy.

Injuries have reduced Ndidi’s impact for the Foxes this term, with Wednesday’s match being his 11th appearance for the 20-game-old Premier League campaign.

The midfield enforcer was injured for more than two months after suffering an adductor injury that required surgery.

Brendan Rodgers’ men eventually shook off the disappointment of losing one of their key men to grab the equaliser through Youri Tielemans in the 67th minute.

Both sides couldn’t find the winner late on, and Rodgers, after the game, provided an update on the fitness of Ndidi.

“Wilf was tight, it was the back of his hamstring, so we’ll see how that goes in the next couple of days,” the former Liverpool manager told LCFC.

Leicester City continue to build on their fantastic season, with the Foxes occupying the third spot on the Premier League table boasting 39 points from 20 games.
