The Bundesliga side are hoping to bolster their attacking options before the transfer window shuts and have identified a Nigerian international as one of their targets
RB Leipzig are interested in the services of Super Eagles player Kelechi Iheanacho, according to Bild per Leicester Mercury.
The German side are looking for a striker as they hope to challenge Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga title. And they have identified Iheanacho along with Liverpool’s Divock Origi and Nice’s Kasper Dolberg as potential options.
However, Jules Nagelsmann’s side are only interested in a loan should any deal take place. Iheanacho joined Leicester in 2017, but he has failed to convince.
The Nigerian international’s time at the King Power Stadium has had more of lows than high despite the numerous opportunities he has been given.
He was linked with a move away from the club at the start of this season but ended up staying. Although he has played as a backup to Jamie Vardy for most parts of the season, Iheanacho has not impressed when offered the chance to lead Leicester’s attack.
The former Manchester City man has failed to score or record an assist in ten premier league games this season- although he has three goals in the Europa League.
Nonetheless, it remains to be seen if the Foxes will be willing to let him leave this January.
