It was a night of mixed fortunes Nigerian stars that were in midweek action for their respective clubs across several European leagues

Super Eagles hopeful, Ademola Lookman, was on target but it was not enough to prevent a Fulham loss to Manchester United at Craven Cottage.

Lookman, who is close to switching international allegiance to Nigeria, put Fulham ahead with a well-taken shot in the fifth minute.

However, goals from Edinson Cavani and Paul Pogba sealed the three points for Man Utd. It was Lookman’s third goal in 15 league games.  Ola Aina and Tosin Adarabioyo- another Super Eagle target, also featured for Scott Parker’s men.

In Spain, Samuel Chukwueze was missing from Villarreal’s squad that played out a 2-2 draw against Granada at the Estadio La Ceramica.

Chukwueze missed the encounter due to injury that is likely to require surgery, according to Villarreal’s manager, Unai Emery.

Meanwhile, in Belgium, Emmanuel Dennis was once again missing as Club Brugge extended their lead in the Belgian top-flight to ten points following a 2-1 win over Oostende.

Dennis is yet to feature for the Blauw-Zwart this year and missed their last six league games. His Nigerian teammate, David Okereke was an 86th-minute substitute.

In Turkey, Jesse Sedika scored his first goal for Galatasaray in their 6-1 thrashing of Denizlispor in Turkey’s Super Lig.

Sedika joined the Lions last year but has struggled for game time. Last night was just his fifth appearance in the league.

Goals from Emre Akbaba, Sofiane Feghouli and Ryan Donk gave Galatasaray a commanding half-time lead, although Denizlispor pulled one back via Veton Tusha.

However, Muhammet Ozkal (og) and Younes Belhanda extended the Lions lead. Sedika then scored the sixth to add gloss to the scoreline.

Oghenekaro Etebo also featured for Galatasaray, coming on as a second-half substitute.
