Two Nigerian stars featured as the champions returned to the top of Belgian Jupiler League following a narrow win over St. Truiden on Saturday night
Super Eagles star Emmanuel Dennis was in action for Club Brugge, but it was his compatriot, David Okereke that took the praise as Brugge edged out St Truiden at the Jan Breydel Stadium.
Dennis was involved in a clash with his club a few weeks back, but he has since been reinstated into the club, and was included in the starting lineup on Saturday night.
However, the 22-year old struggled for the 55 minutes he was on the pitch and was replaced by his countryman, Okereke.
It was a substitution that paid off as Okereke scored the lone goal two minutes after coming on. The goal was Okereke’s first in nine league games for Philippe Clement’s men.
It was a much-needed goal for the Nigerian as he has struggled at Brugge since signing from Spezia Calcio in 2018.
Courtesy of the win, Brugge returned to the top of the Belgian Jupiler league with 30 wins from 15 games.
