He may not fit into Gernot Rohr’s plans in the Super Eagles squad, but Onuachu is having his best start to a season after he scored twice in Genk’s 4-2 victory over Royal Antwerp.
The brace takes his tally to 14 goals in 14 league matches-which makes him the prolific Nigerian striker in Europe this season.
It was Royal Antwerp that drew the first blood with Koji Miyoshi putting the away side ahead just three minutes after the start.
However, Onuachu restored parity for The Smurfs in the 19th minute before scoring his second four minutes later to give Genk the lead.
Theo Bongonda made it three in the 59th minute, but Dieumerci Mbokani pulled one back for the away side seven minutes from time to set up a nervy finish.
However, Cyriel Dessers who came on for his countryman, Onuachu, ensured there wouldn’t be a comeback as he scored Genk’s fourth in the 88th minute.
The win takes Genk top of the Jupiler League with 31 points from 15 games.
