The group stages of the UEFA Champions League is at the midway stage, and two Nigerians were in action for their clubs last night

Zaidu Sanusi impressive season continued as he helped FC Porto to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Ligue 1 side, Olympique Marseille at the Estádio do Dragão.

It was Sanusi's third appearance in this season's competition and was on from start to finish as Porto moved up to second behind Manchester City in Group C.

The 23-year-old won four of his seven duels, while he had an 82% pass accuracy. He managed a shot, but it was off target.

It took Porto just four minutes to open the scoring with Moussa Marega slotting home following an assist from Jesus Corona.

Marseille had the chance to draw level after they were awarded a penalty, but Dimitry Payet could only hit his effort over the bar.

It was a miss Marseille would rue as Porto were also awarded a penalty, which Sergio Oliveira converted. Luis Diaz then put a gloss on the scoreline as he scored Porto's third.

While Sanusi was on the winning side, it was another loss for Frank Onyeka and his Midtjylland team after they lost at home to Ajax in their Group D encounter.

Onyeka was impressive in the middle for The Wolves with an 80% pass accuracy, while he also won 13 of his duels. He also made three successful tackles and interceptions respectively.

Midtjylland had lost their first two games against Atalanta and Liverpool but were hoping to turn it around against the Dutch champions.

However, they got off to a bad start as Antony put ahead inside the first minute. Dusan Tadic freekick from inside the box after Mikkel Andersen handled a back pass made it two in the 13th minute.

Midtjylland pulled one back through Anders Dreyer's brilliant strike in the 18th minute, but that was the last goal in the encounter as Ajax held on for their first win in the group.
