The 2020-21 Italian top-flight campaign gets underway this weekend, and the Nigeria international can’t wait to test his might against one of the world’s best stars
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has confessed that he is excited and eager to begin his Serie A adventure this weekend as it would allow him to go up against Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
Five-time World Footballer of the Year and Juventus forward Ronaldo has been the Serie A’s biggest star since joining the Old Ladies from Real Madrid three years ago.
Ronaldo remains the icon of the Italian league despite his ebbing age, and Super Eagles striker Osimhen is looking forward to sharing the same pitch for the first time with the former Manchester United star.
“I was really looking forward to a new career here in Serie A,” the former Lille ace told the CAF Media Team as per AfriqueSports.
“Playing against Cristiano Ronaldo is something one can look forward to.
“In Lille, I had the opportunity to play against some of the best players in the world like Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and it will certainly be a great experience to play against Ronaldo, who is one of the greatest players in the world.
“So, I can’t wait to face him soon.”
Gennaro Gattuso will lead Osimhen and his Napoli teammates to face the champions Juventus at the Allianz Stadium in Turin on Match Day 3, the first weekend in October.
Osimhen will hope to have opened his Serie A goals account before that time, though. Napoli’s opener is a trip to Parma on Sunday before the Partenopei host Genoa next weekend.
