The Nigerian striker came on to make his debut for Napoli in the 2-0 win over Parma, and his performance made a big impression on the Italy international

Napoli captain, Lorenzo Insigne, has praised the performance of Victor Osimhen in the team’s victory over Parma on Sunday.

Gennaro Gattuso’s men opened their Serie A campaign with a comfortable victory over I Crociati courtesy of goals from Dries Mertens and Insigne.

However, it took the introduction of Osimhen for Napoli to find the breakthrough. The former Lille star played a role in the opener while he was also a thorn in the flesh of Parma defenders.

His link up play was also impressive and could have had two assists if Mertens and Insigne had been more clinical.

Following the game, Insigne praised Osimhen’s impact saying he offers a different quality to what Napoli have in attack.

“Osimhen’s arrival helped us. Victor has great speed. He has different and complementary characteristics to me and Dries, Insigne told Napoli website per SSC Napoli news.

🗣 Lorenzo Insigne:

“Osimhen's arrival helped us. Victor has great speed. He has different and complementary characteristics to me and Dries. Sometimes he reminds me of Cavani because of his ability to attack the goal, and because of his physical strength.”

The Italian star went further to compare Osimhen’s qualities to that Edinson Cavani, who scored 104 times in 138 games during his time with Gli Azzurri.

Sometimes he reminds me of Cavani because of his ability to attack the goal, and because of his physical strength,” Insigne added.
