Ahmed Musa Finally Ends His League Goal Drought This Season

The Super Eagles captain barren run in front of goal is over as the Saudi Arabian topflight continued after a lengthy break due to COVID-19

Ahmed Musa finally ended his dry spell in front goal after he scored in Al-Nassr’s 2-0 victory at Abha on Monday night.

Before last night, Musa had not scored in 18 league matches for Rui Vitoria’s side- although he has two goals to his name in the King’s Cup.

While Musa has set up his teammates five times, he has been unlucky finding the back of the net. However, he would be relieved to have ended the long wait for his first league goal of the season.

Following a goalless first half, Abderrazak Hamdallah’s penalty in the 58th minute put Al-Nassr ahead. Musa then doubled the lead eight minutes from time to seal a comfortable win for the away side.

The win came after Rui Vitoria’s men were humiliated at home by Al-Hilal in their first game since the league went on a break due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Monday night’s win keeps Al-Nassr in second place on the Saudi Professional League table with 48 points, seven points behind leaders, Al-Hilal.
