That leaves Rangers short up front, and the club has identified Super Eagles striker, Maja to fill in the void. Maja is currently with Bordeaux, a club he joined from Sunderland in January 2019.
But since joining Les Girondins, Josh Maja has not been given enough opportunities with the Nigerian playing just 31 games since he arrived.
However, despite the lack of games, Maja has not lost his scoring instincts and has scored nine times in the 31 games.
Rangers are aware of Maja’s brilliance in front of goal and are set to open talks with Bordeaux over a potential transfer.
The Gers open their Scottish Premiership campaign against Aberdeen this weekend and their manager, Steven Gerrard, revealed they plan to bring in a striker as soon as possible.
“I had to be sensible with Alfredo and get him off the pitch. We’re actively looking to strengthen in that area.
“We have to be patient and try and get the right one in.
