The Yellow-Reds are in search of a goalscoring winger after they couldn’t arrive at an agreement with Monaco towards extending the loan contract of the Nigeria international
Galatasaray have identified Heerenveen’s star forward Chidera Ejuke has the right man to replace departed Nigerian winger Henry Onyekuru, according to reports from Fanatik.
Onyekuru’s time with Gala came to an abrupt end last week when his parent club, Monaco, refused to extend his loan deal with the Turkish giants.
The Super Eagles star only managed a goal and two assists in ten games for Gala, a far cry from the 14 goals and five assists he contributed in the league-winning campaign last year.
But he was a crucial component of coach Fatih Terim’s attack that rejuvenated the side’s title dreams before the coronavirus-induced lockdown.
The 23-year-old’s departure, however, leaves a giant gap in the Lions’ set-up, which only a fast, goalscoring winger can fill.
Nigerian youngster Ejuke fits that description to the letter.
The Heerenveen forward, in his maiden campaign in the Netherlands, had a hand in 13 goals – nine goals and four assists – in 25 Eredivisie matches.
The 22-year-old former Valerenga man won’t leave the Abe Lenstra Stadium on a cheap, though.
Ejuke joined the Frisians for €2 million last summer, but he’s currently valued at €4 million (transfermarkt) and could cost a potential suitor more than twice that amount.
