The Arsenal star has spent all his eighteen years on earth in England, but he is eligible to play for the Nigerian national team
Nigeria has begun plans to convince Bukayo Saka to choose the Super Eagles ahead of the Three Lions of England.
Saka has been one of the shining lights in an Arsenal team that has underperformed this season. The 18-year-old has scored four times and provided 14 assists in 38 games for the Gunners this season,
His performances have made Arsenal tie him down to a new long term contract. However, while his club future is settled, the same cannot be said about his international future.
The youngster was born in England and has played for the Three Lions at different youth levels. However, according to the Dailymail, Nigeria is attempting to convince the Arsenal star to commit his international future to the Super Eagles.
Saka qualifies to play for Nigeria through his parent, and the country chiefs are already making plans to convince him ahead of the next round of international fixtures.
Although it remains to be seen if Saka will accept Nigeria’s offer, he won’t be the first player to choose Nigeria ahead of England.
The likes of Alex Iwobi, Victor Moses and Ola Aina all decided to play for the Super Eagles despite playing for England at youth level.
