The Nigeria international is leaving Lille this summer, and it appears his destination is Napoli according to the team’s manager
Gennaro Gattuso has all but confirmed Victor Osimhen’s move to Napoli despite reports in some section of the Nigerian media claiming the 21-year-old is not too keen on a move to Italy.
Osimhen is currently on the books of Lille who he joined from Royal Charleroi for just 12m euros last summer.
But the Super Eagles star’s value is now worth more than five times the price Lille paid for him following an impressive season that saw him score 18 times in 38 games.
Les Dogues want to cash in on the Nigerian international with Napoli the favourites to land him. Osimhen was in Naples last week to discuss with the club’s chiefs.
However, there were rumours that he is not convinced about the prospect of playing in Italy, and he is holding out in favour of a move to England.
But it seems the reports are unsubstantiated after Napoli manager, Gennaro Gattuso, hinted the deal is done, although he did urge caution.
“He is a good player with different characteristics from Milik. Currently, it’s not right to talk about him because he is a LOSC player. When he arrives, I’ll explain what he can bring us, Gattuso told Sky Italia per Robin Bainer.
According to reports, I Partenopei will pay a fee in the region of 60m -70m euros for the former Wolfsburg striker.
