The Nigerian forward scored twice in a training game involving two United sides ahead of the Premier League clash against Tottenham, says fullback Luke Shaw
The England international who bagged a brace himself revealed Odion Ighalo also scored twice in a thrilling training match between United Team A and Team B ended in a 4-4 stalemate.
Talking to United’s official website, Shaw said:
“Hi everyone, as you’ll have seen from the pictures, we had a great 11-a-side training game on the Old Trafford pitch over the weekend, and it was eventful!
“There have been a lot of different things circulating on social media, and I’m happy to set the record straight: it did end 4-4, and I did score twice!
“Also on my team, Bruno [Fernandes] got one, and Jamo [Daniel James] got one, while, on the other team, Rashy [Marcus Rashford] got two and so did Odion [Ighalo].”
Ighalo is raring to continue his dream spell at United after recently extending his loan deal with the club until January 2021.
The retired Super Eagles striker has netted four goals in eight appearances for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men, but he’s yet to open his goal-scoring account in the English Premier League.
But that can change in the coming weeks with the EPL set to make a return from a coronavirus-induced break on June 17.
Ighalo will hope his efforts in training would be enough to convince Solskjaer to include him in the squad set to make the trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next Friday.
