Former Super Eagles striker, Ikechukwu Uche has opened up on his relationship with the late Stephen Keshi.
The skilful attacker was a key member of the team before Stephen Keshi was appointed as coach, but he failed to enjoy regular playing time under his tutelage.
Keshi preferred Emmanuel Emenike to lead the line, and he repaid his faith by playing a pivotal role in the team’s African Cup of Nations triumph by winning the top scorer of the competition with four goals.
Uche appeared in four matches playing a total of 151 minutes in the competition.
There were reports of a fall out with Stephen Keshi, but the former Villarreal striker has come out to debunk the insinuations.
I went to him and asked if we had any problems and he said there was none. I always gave my all for Nigeria whenever I pulled on the Eagles shirt,” he told Brila FM.
Ikechukwu Uche spent the majority of his club football career in Spain playing for the likes of Recreativo, Getafe, Zaragoza, Villarreal, Granada, and Malaga.
He represented Nigeria at the 2008 and 2013 African Cup of Nations.
