Victor Osimhen, Moses Simon Nominated For Another Award

The award nominations keep on coming for the Super Eagles stars following an impressive debut campaign in the French Ligue 1

Following his win as Nantes’ player of the season, and his nomination as Lille’s player of the season, Moses Simon and Victor Osimhen have been nominated for yet another award as they were on the 11-man shortlist for the Marc Vivien Foe award.

The award is dedicated to late Cameroon international Marc Vivien Foe who died in a Confederations Cup game against France in 2003.

It’s awarded to the best African player in France’s top division every season, and the two Nigerian stars were part of the shortlist of players.

Both Super Eagles stars have been the best player for their respective clubs in what is their debut season in France, and they have now been rewarded for their performances.

Simon joined Nantes on loan from Levante last year but had no trouble settling in at Stade de la Beaujoire. The former Gent winger who was recently named the club’s player of the season scored nine goals and registered eight assists for Christian Gourcuff side.

Meanwhile, Osimhen had a more impressive campaign with Lille following his 12m euros move from Royal Charleroi last summer.

The 21-year-old was Les Dogues topscorer in the Ligue 1 season that ended early due to the coronavirus outbreak. Osimhen scored 13 goals in 27 league appearances and another five in other competitions for Lille this season.

Despite finishing as fourth top scorer in the league, the Super Eagles striker was included in Ligue 1’s team of the season, while’s he’s also the favourite to Lille’s player of the season.
