After almost three months without action, football finally returned to our screens with the German Bundesliga taking centre stage
German top-flight teams were back in action as the Bundesliga resumed following a 10-week break due to the coronavirus pandemic.
A total of ten teams were in action on Saturday, and several Nigerian stars were in action for their respective side.
However, it was an uneventful return for all the Nigerian stars as none of their sides could pick up a win. Jamilu Collins featured for the whole 90 minutes, but his Paderborn side could only pick up a point in their relegation clash against Maduka Okoye’s Fortuna Dusseldorf.
In other encounters involving Nigerian stars, Kevin Akpoguma’s scored an own goal as his Hertha Berlin side were on the receiving end of a 3-0 home loss to Hoffenheim.
Die Kraichgauer opened the scoring in the 58th minute when Akpoguma directed the ball into his net. Further goals from Vedad Ibisevic and Matheus Cunha secured a comprehensive win for the away side.
RB Leipzig missed the chance to close the ground on leaders Bayern Munich as they were held at home by Freiburg.

Julian Nagelsmann’s side could have won it through Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman, but the former Everton star could not finish from close range. It Lookman’s 11th league appearance of the season, and he has five goals to his name.
Meanwhile, Felix Uduokhai as Ausburg suffered a home defeat to Wolfsburg. Renato Steffen put the Wolves ahead two minutes before half-time, but Tin Jedvaj levelled scores for the home side nine minutes after the break.
Uduokhai thought he had put Ausburg ahead in the 67th minute, but his effort was ruled out following a VAR review.
They were left to rue their luck as Daniel Ginczek struck deep into added time seal the three points for the away side.
