The West Bromwich Albion defender is one of the two Nigerian stars included in the list for the best players in the English second-tier this campaign

Nigeria international Semi Ajayi has expressed his delight at being named in FIFA 20’s Ultimate Team, Championship Team of the Season so far.

The centre-back joined Queens Park Rangers midfielder Eberechi Eze in the elite list that also includes Aleksandar Mitrovic, Kalvin Phillips and more in EA’s latest update.

Ajayi has been one of the standout players for the Baggies this season as they edge closer to Premier League promotion.

The Super Eagles defender only joined Slaven Bilic’s side last summer from Rotherham, but he has been an ever-present in West Brom’ squad, featuring in 35 league games.

The 26-year-old reacted to the achievement by posting this message on his Instagram:

“Humbled to have been included in the EFL Team of The Season So Far 🏆 Thank you for all of your support this season.”

Remarkably, the Nigerian has not only established himself as one of the best centre-backs in the division but also has one of the most prolific too.

Ajayi has proved an unlikely source of goals for West Brom this season having scored five in the Championship so far.
