The Wigan star says he has challenged Gernot Rohr a couple of times, and his Super Eagles teammates call him crazy for it.
Leon Balogun revealed he is the mouthpiece for the Super Eagles squad whenever the team wants to try a new method in training.
The 31-year-old who was born in Germany, and his ability to converse in German made him the guy who speaks to Rohr on the team’s behalf.
Balogun says some of the conversations between the pair are heated, but it has always been constructive criticism.
The former Mainz 05 star made his debut for the Super Eagles in 2014, but it was under Rohr he became a regular in the Super Eagles team which explains his role in the side.
Speaking in an interview with Funnybone on Instagram Live, Balogun revealed he is not afraid to challenge the former Bordeaux manager, and he also acts as the intermediary between the players and the manager.
“I do challenge the coach sometimes, it helps that we both speak German,” Balogun said. Sometimes, when the discussions are heated, the other players will say “this Balogun is crazy oh”, but it’s all for the good of the team and constructive.
“Other times players like Ighalo might come to me and say “eh Balogun go and talk to your German father now “when the players want change or to try something.”
“I love the squad, being there and it’s never acrimonious, always for the best of the squad,” he added.
