The 30-year-old is currently on loan at Old Trafford, but his parent club are eager to hand him a new two-year extension.
Shanghai Shenhua have handed Odion Ighalo a new two-year deal worth £400,000 which is about ₦175m per week according to Skysports.
The former Nigeria international is currently with Manchester United on loan from Shangai till the end of the season.
Although there are reports the Red Devils are considering paying £15m pounds to sign him permanently, Shanghai are ready to offer him a new two-year contract which will see him earn ₦175m per week before tax.
Ighalo’s current contract with The Flower of Shanghai expires in 2022, but they want to keep him for two more years according to Skysports.
However, while the offer is tempting, Ighalo could reject it should Manchester United pick up the option of signing him permanently.
The former Watford striker took a pay cut to join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, and he is ready to do that again if that’s what it will take to earn a permanent deal.
The former Granada striker has also revealed how it has always been his dream to play for the club he supported as a boy.
Ighalo’s loan deal ends on May 31st, but that is likely to extend as the season will not finish until June due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
But according to reports, United are interested in signing the Nigerian on a permanent deal following an impressive start to life at Old Trafford.
Ighalo has scored four goals in eight matches for Manchester United.
