A few weeks after returning to Turkey to join the champions, the Nigerian forward may have done enough to impress his employers.
On-loan forward, Henry Onyekuru is delighted to continue his career at Galatasaray, with the Turkish side reportedly keen to extend the youngster’s loan deal.
The former Eupen star struggled to establish himself at Monaco after signing for the French principality outfit from English Premier League side Everton in August 2019.
He made only four appearances for Monaco during a tough first half of the season, registering just an assist.
In January, Onyekuru quickly jumped at the opportunity to rejoin coach Fatih Terim’s men, having enjoyed a successful spell there last term.
He was loaned to Galatasaray last season from Everton, where he scored 16 goals, contributed six assists in 44 matches in all competitions to help the club win a Turkish league and cup double.
Since teaming up with the club during the winter transfer window, Onyekuru has scored a goal and provided two assists in four appearances.
His only goal arrived against Fenerbahce last Sunday, ending a 21-year winless streak against Galatasaray’s arch-rivals at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium.
The champions have been satisfied with the 22-year-old’s output and will reportedly seek Monaco’s consent to keep the attacker in Turkey beyond the summer.
It is a move that Onyekuru would give his 100% backing should it materialize.
“The best decision I have made in my career has always been to come to Galatasaray,” said the Super Eagles star, as quoted by Sporx.
“I have returned to Galatasaray again. I feel very good here. I hope I can continue my career in the Galatasaray shirt.”
