Victor Osimhen was on target in Lille’s 2-0 win at Angers, but he was stretchered off following a suspected muscle injury.
The Nigeria international opened the scoring at Stade Raymond Kopa in the 14th minute after latching onto a ball from Jonathan Bamba before lobbing it past Ludovic Butelle in Angers goal.
It was Osimhen’s 12th league goal of the season, and 17th goal in 34 appearances for Les Dogues this season.
Renato Sanches strike 15 minutes from time doubled Lille’s advantage and also sealed a comfortable win for the away side.
However, the win was tainted with an injury to Osimhen who was taken off in the 80th minute of the encounter due to a thigh issue.
Speaking after the match, Lille manager, Christophe Galtier told reporters that Osimhen suffered a suspected muscle injury, and he’s likely to miss the clash against Olympique Marseille next week.
“He has no broken femur (laughs). He had to go out before and I think he has a muscle injury. After, what grade, and the length of downtime … We’ll see that tomorrow with the exams, Galtier told Canal + Sports with quotes gotten from Foot Mercato
The win over Angers lifts Lille to fourth with 40 points from 24 games. Les Dogues are now level with Rennes who sit in the final Champions League, although Galtier’s side have played a game more.
