Victor Osimhen is in contention to be included in Lille’s starting line-up against Marseille on Sunday despite picking up an injury in the closing minutes of the 2-0 win at Angers SCO.
Lille coach, Christophe Galtier, cleared the doubts surrounding the health status of Nigeria international striker.
Osimhen only had a minor case of cramps, and he’s back to his best and raring to get back on the pitch, says the French tactician.
The 21-year-old was taken off with ten minutes left to play in the 2-0 win at Angers last weekend due to a thigh injury.
The former Royal Charleroi forward had got the game’s first goal after just 14 minutes, his 12th goal of the Ligue 1 campaign, before walking off the pitch. There were fears he is set for a lengthy time on the sidelines.
But during the pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s clash, Galtier revealed that the Super Eagles star is back to full fitness and could feature when Les Dogues host their high flying guests at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Sunday.
“Victor trains normally, he does 100% of the sessions. He ended up with a cramp (in Angers). As he is a young player, he is still discovering his body,” explained Christophe Galtier at a press conference, according to quotes carried by EuroSports.fr.
“He had felt pain a few minutes before, and we had decided to replace him. And on his last action, he got down on the ground feeling a sharp pain, but it was just a cramp. Now he knows what it is,” added Galtier.
A summer signing from Sporting Charleroi, Osimhen is Lille’s top scorer in all competitions with 17 goals, including 12 in the Ligue 1.
