Nantes Coach Christian Gourcuff is confident that the Canaries would retain the services of Simon Moses when his loan deal expires at the end of the season following his brilliant displays.
After he was declared surplus to requirement at La Liga side, Levante, the Nigeria international has found a new home at Nantes. The 24-year-old has featured in 25 games for the French club so far, scoring eight goals in all competitions, the latest of which arrived in a 2-1 loss to champions PSG in midweek.
Nantes hold the ace in the deal to make the winger’s stay permanent as the Canaries retain the option to buy for 5 million euros. Two conditions are believed to be attached to that purchase option with the first – Moses to play 25 matches – already met.
The second also – Moses to score ten goals – is already within reach and Gourcuff, former Algeria manager has revealed the club would be pleased to make the Nigerian’s stay in France permanent.
“I’m going to stop praising him because we’re going to end up taking him away (laughs),” Gourcuff said of Moses on the official Nantes website.
“He’s an extremely interesting player. He makes differences on the left-wing and in the attack, he has the ability to make individual differences, like on goal. It’s even a shame because there are two beautiful situations, one in first then a second after his goal (against PSG).
“He’s a fast player, technically very strong. For a defence, it’s a poison
“He is a great recruit for the Club.
“What follows? There is an option to buy. He has a real margin of progress, especially in the last pass, where he can improve narrowly, but it is already not bad. At the moment, it is an option that is going well and that I like very much.”
The Super Eagles star is also keen to continue his adventure at Nantes but insists that the decision regarding where he plays his football next season is not entirely his to make.
“I feel very good here. My decision is made. However, my future does not depend solely on me. It is the management who will make the decision,” the Nigerian winger told reporters.
Moses will look to lift Nantes in the league table when the Canaries visit Dijon on Friday. Galtier’s men currently sit in 11th position on the log with 32 points, 5 points behind Lille in fourth.
