Barcelona Win But It’s Still Bad News For Setien As Etebo Makes Getafe Return

Goals from Antoine Griezmann and Sergi Roberto secured Barcelona the win over a Getafe side that had Oghenekaro Etebo’s, but there was an injury worry for Quique Setien.

Jordi Alba was taken off in the 22nd minute with a suspected hamstring injury to compound the woes of Setien who is already without Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele.

The match started with Barcelona dominating possession, but it was Getafe who had the first real opportunity of the match.

Azulones’ captain, Jorge Molina was put through on goal following a mistake from Gerard Pique, but he could not hit his shot on time which allowed Junior Firpo to intercept for a corner kick.

The resulting corner led to a Getafe goal, but Nyom’s strike was ruled out following a VAR review. Getafe would be left to rue those opportunities as Barcelona took the lead through a Griezmann finish following a brilliant ball from Lionel Messi.

It did not take long before the Cules doubled their lead, and this time it was from the boots of Sergi Roberto who finished off a nice pull back from Firpo.

His goal ensured Barcelona took a comfortable lead into the break. However, Getafe pulled one back through Angel Rodriguez brilliant finish in the 69th minute.

Pepe Bordalas side have been the surprise package of the season and had chances to restore parity, but they were wasteful in front of goal.

Nigeria international, Oghenekaro Etebo, was in action for 66 minutes as he made his fourth appearance for the team since he joined on a six-month loan deal last month.

The former Stoke City man had an average outing, winning no aerial duels, while he also had no shots on goal.

The win takes Barcelona level on points with Real Madrid, but Los Blancos could restore their three point lead when they play Celta Vigo on Sunday.
