It was a good night for Super Eagles duo of Victor Osimhen and Kelechi Iheanacho as they were on target for their respective clubs on Wednesday.
Osimhen started 2020 the same way he ended 2019 after he scored Lille’s second goal in their 2-0 win over Amiens in the French League Cup.
Since joining Les Dogues from Royal Charleroi in June, Osimhen has taken the French topflight by storm. He scored 13 goals in all competitions in his first six months for Christophe Galtier’s side.
He has taken that same form into 2020 after opening his account for the year with a well-taken finish over Amiens on Wednesday night. The win saw Lille move into the semi-finals of the French League Cup.

He has now scored 14 goals in all competitions for Lille this campaign. Osimhen was not the only Nigerian on target on Wednesday night as Kelechi Iheanacho was also on the scoresheet for Leicester City.
The Super Eagles star saved the Foxes blushes in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final clash against Aston Villa on Wednesday.
Brought on as a substitute in the second half, Iheanacho latched on to a Jamie Vardy’s pass to finish past Oerjan Haaskjold Nyland in Villa’s goal.
Villa had taken the lead in the 28th minute through Frederic Guilbert and appeared to be heading into the second leg with the advantage. But Iheanacho’s 74th-minute strike ensured the tie remains firmly in the balance.

7 – Kelechi Iheanacho has been directly involved in seven goals in his five competitive appearances against Aston Villa (five goals, two assists) – more than any other opponent in his professional club career. Protagonist. pic.twitter.com/WIFLkYEV1z

It was Iheanacho’s second goal against Villa this season after scoring in the 4-1 win at Villa Park last month. The former Manchester City man has now scored six times in eight appearances for the Foxes this season and appears reborn under Brendan Rodgers.
