The Super Eagles star’s rejuvenation continued on Saturday after he scored the winner in Leicester City’s FA Cup win over Brentford, and that earned praises from his manager, Brendan Rodgers.
Following a difficult start to the season, Kelechi Iheanacho has managed to turn his Foxes career around and has become one of Rodger’s trusted men in recent games.
His first league game of the season only came at the beginning of last month, but it was also the moment his season kicked off.
With Leicester losing 1-0 to Everton, Iheanacho was brought on for Ayoze Perez in the second half, and he went on to provide an assist for Jamie Vardy before scoring the winner.
Since then, Iheanacho’s profile has been on the rise with his latest goal against Brentford his seventh of the season in all competition.
The 23-year-old finished home from close range following a low cross from James Justin sealed Leicester’s passage to the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Following the match, Rodgers praised Iheanacho’s form, saying the Nigeria international is now an efficient player.
‘For Kels, he is getting better and better. He is so efficient now in his game. He is working so hard. He creates goals, he scores goals and I am delighted for him, Rodgers said in quotes gotten from Dailymail
Iheanacho will hope to continue his goalscoring form when the Foxes travel to Villa Park to take on Aston Villa in the second leg of their League Cup semi-final tie.
