Former Lazio midfielder Ogenyi Eddy Onazi has rubbished talks that he has been told to leave the Turkish side and find a new home, insisting that he remains focused on helping the team achieve its targets for the season.
There is no truth in recent reports making the rounds that Onazi is desperately looking to dump Trabzonspor as the Nigeria international’s next goal is to get back to top shape and return to being a key player for club and country, Soccernet.ng understands.
The 27-year-old only returned in December from an injury that kept him out of action for a year. He is yet to make a league appearance since but has featured in two other competitive games for Trabzonspor in 2019, clocking just 65 minutes in total. This awkward situation has fueled speculation that the Turkish side would look to offload the midfield enforcer during the January transfer window.
Onazi has, however, brushed aside such rumours, choosing to work hard to get back to his dynamic best.
“Glory be to God Almighty for his grace. New Year, New beginning,” Onazi told AoiFootball.
“I have objectives for the year and unfinished business with my club (and one of them) is to battle for the title. We are on course for that and I am working so hard to get to the level I was before my injury. This is my priority for now.”
Trabzonspor sit in third place in the Turkish Super Lig, five points behind league leaders Sivasspor, with coach Hüseyin Çimşir’s side needing all the help it can get to shoot further up the table.
