Liverpool Star Virgil Van Dijk Expresses His Admiration For Two Nigerian Artists

Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk has expressed his love for two of Nigeria’s best musicians in 2019. The Dutch centre back revealed he loves FireBoy Dml and Burna Boy.

The two stars released two of the best albums of 2019 with Burna Boy’s African Giant album getting a Grammy nomination.

FireBoy’s ‘Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps’ did not attain the heights of African Giant, but it earned rave reviews from music critics, and it’s enjoying airplay across Radio stations in Nigeria.

The album is not only appealing to Nigerians but also people in other countries, notably among them is Liverpool’s Gini Wijnaldum.

Wijnaldum shares his matchday playlist with his followers on Twitter, and in his updated playlist ahead of Reds FA Cup clash against Shrewsbury Town, both Fireboy’s King and J Hus feat Burna Boy’s Play are included.

But Wijnaldum is not the only Liverpool star that loves the Nigerian acts, international teammate, Virgil Van Dijk also declared his admiration for the two pop stars.

Replying to Wijnaldum’s playlist, Van Dijk posted a ‘fire emoji’ on Twitter, tagging Fireboy and Burnaboy in the Tweet.

A couple of Nigerians reacted to the tweet, with many jokingly saying the Liverpool defender is now the “greatest defender in Premier League history”.

Meanwhile, Burna Boy will hope to bring home his first Grammy award when the 2020 winners are announced in an elaborate ceremony at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 26, 2020
