The in-form striker scored for the second game running, but it was not enough as Leicester City crashed out of the League cup following a 2-1 defeat in the second leg of their semifinal clash against Aston Villa.

Both teams went into the clash with the tie levelled following a 1-1 draw in the first leg at King Power Stadium almost three weeks ago.

Matt Targett gave Villa a 12th-minute lead, but Leicester deservedly levelled through Kelechi Iheanacho in the 72nd minute. It was the Nigeria international’s seventh goal of the season in all competitions for the Foxes.

He has also been involved in eight goals in his last five games against Aston Villa in all competitions, while he has also scored in all three appearances against them this season.

Iheanacho’s strike appears to have taken the game into extra-time until Trezeguet perfect finish deep into stoppage time sealed Villa’s progress to the final.

Leicester next face Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday in a battle of third versus fourth as the Foxes look to put the disappointment of the Cup defeat behind them.

Meanwhile, in the Coppa Italia, Ola Aina and Torino were moments away from securing a famous victory at the Giuseppe Meazza, but a late Hakan Calhanoglu strike forced the encounter into extra time before AC Milan triumphed 4-2.

Aina, back in the team after missing the Maroons devastating 7-0 loss to Atalanta at the weekend, was on from start to finish, but his best efforts could not help the visitors get past an Ibrahimovic-inspired Milan.

The home side struck first through Bonaventura, but a Bremer brace either side of halftime turned the game in Torino’s favour.

However, Walter Mazzarri’s men could not hold out for victory as Calhanoglu ensured the tie went into extra time. The Turkish midfielder then got Milan’s noses back in front before substitute Ibrahimovic secured the win with a fine finish late on.
