The Nigeria international travels with the rest of the Leicester City squad to face reigning English champions Manchester City in what should be the Foxes toughest game of the campaign.
It’s the battle of second versus third when Leicester City square up against Man City at the Etihad Stadium in what is expected to be a cracking affair on Saturday.
Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has established himself as one of the key players for Brendan Rodgers side and his services will be desperately needed when the Foxes set up against the league’s most prolific attack.
But the 23-year-old has shown time and again that he is up to the task, having stood firm like an impenetrable wall in front of the Leicester City defence that’s the meanest in the Premier League.
Regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the business, the former Genk star is the ideal man to help stop an attack that has already blasted 47 goals past opposition goalkeepers in just 16 games.
This season, just as he did last season, Ndidi tops the Premier League rankings for tackles. Unlike last season, he has also ascended to the top of the list for interceptions too. He is second when it comes to winning possession of the ball.
Pep Guardiola’s side thrashed Arsenal 3-0 away last weekend with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez taking turns to taunt the miserable Gunners. But with Ndidi in the team, Leicester City could avoid a similar humiliation.
The Foxes though enjoy a four-point advantage over the champions and, whatever happens on Saturday, will remain second behind Liverpool heading into Christmas.
