The Super Eagles star limped off after just 11 minutes in his first match against Arsenal since leaving last summer. With new Everton manager, Carlo Ancelotti set to take charge of his first match against Burnley, Iwobi would’ve been eager to put up a good impression.

But the 23-year-old will have to wait after Ancelotti confirmed he is set for a spell on the sidelines. The former AC Milan manager revealed the hamstring injury is set to keep  Iwobi out for two to three weeks.

Speaking in his first conference ahead of Everton’s home clash against Burnley, Ancelotti confirmed Iwobi’s absence for Everton’s next three games, and could also miss the FA Cup clash against Liverpool.

Following the clash against Burnley, the Toffees faces two daunting trips to Newcastle and Manchester City, but they will have to do without the services of Iwobi.

“Alex Iwobi is not going to play in the next games,” Ancelotti said on evertontv.

“He is going to rest for two or three weeks, then start [training] with the team.

Ancelotti will be hoping to start his Everton career with a win. The Toffees currently sit in 15th place with 19 points from 18 games.
