The Gers midfielder bagged the second goal of the night as Steven Gerrard’s men secured a fine 3-0 victory over ten-man Hibernian at the Easter Road Stadium on Friday night.
Ryan Kent, Joe Aribo and the ageless Jermain Defoe all found the back of the net to lead Rangers to a fourth win in their last five league games.
Super Eagles midfielder Aribo doubled Rangers lead in the eighth minute, moments after Kent had opened the scoring for the visitors. It was his second goal of the league campaign, having scored in the 2-0 defeat of Livingston on November 10.
Former England international Jermain Defoe then made it 3-0 barely ten minutes after the break.
The Hibs were reduced to ten men shortly after going three goals down when Ryan Porteous was sent off.
Rangers are now unbeaten in 15 consecutive league games, winning 13 and drawing two, and are on 44 points, just two points off leaders Celtic. Celtic host Aberdeen on Sunday and a victory will see them extend their lead over Rangers to five points, but Gerrard’s men will have a game in hand.
Meanwhile, it was not so good a night for another Super Eagles midfielder as Oghenekaro Etebo did not even make the matchday squad in Stoke City’s 2-1 defeat away to Middlesbrough in the English Championship.
Head coach Michael O’Neil continues to freeze out the Nigeria international who has now missed Stoke’s last five games. The Potters won only one of those matches, but O’Neil is yet to see any need to trust the former Feirense powerhouse.
The last time Etebo made the matchday squad was on November 26, away to Cardiff City.
