Golden Eaglets’ campaign for a sixth world title in Brazil came to an end with a 3-1 loss to the Netherlands early on Wednesday morning to the chagrin of football fans across the country.
Ajax young forward Sontje Hansen netted a hat-trick to propel the Netherlands past Nigeria 3-1 and into the quarter-finals at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Brazil 2019™.
The five-time world champions showed frailty in defence and lack of coordination and cutting edge in attack throughout the tournament, scoring nine goals and conceding another nine in four matches.

Coach Manu Garba’s boys, having lost to Australia in their last group match, once again came up short against the Netherlands to crash out of the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup.
Fans took to social media site Twitter to voice out their frustration.
This is the worst Nigeria U17 team I've seen in the last 15 years. #NGANED pic.twitter.com/ScJdPTtrVm

Yoruba people used to say β Ogbon ju agbara lo β which means Wisdom thrive better than strength… The Nigeria π³π¬ #GoldenEaglet played with power, running and grit, while The Netherlands π³π± played with their brain π§ … Meanwhile, this man has been warning us ever since πππ pic.twitter.com/bKZRPuURtX

.@thenff, come on #GoldenEaglets, our defensive frailties still shows in the #U17WC round of 16. No improvement since the group stages! This is really disappointing cos I thought we could go all the way or get to SFs. π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘

CJN, Quota System. Heads of near dozen Security Agencies, by Quota System, etc. etc. None of these has achieved any measure of success the generality of Nigerians could be proud of. Now, even the ability to play football has been thrown open to Quota! They keep doing the same thing and expecting different results o! We are tired of waiting for people who have chosen failure over success o…
Tribalism, favoritism corruption and man-knows-man is the problem in Nigerian soccer. There is one part of the country that has been side-lined. Let us look inward and pick people according to their performance. You people can now see who Amunike really is
