Paderborn was given a reality check as the team lost 3-2 to RasenBallsport Leipzig in Saturday’s Bundesliga game at the Benteler-Arena.
The game which saw Super Eagles defender, Jamiu Collins returned to the starting line up after coming on as a substitute against Borussia Dortmund a week ago, could not stop the visitors from taking an early lead through Patrik Schick in the 3rd minute and Marcel Sabitzer in the 4th minute.
In-form striker Timo Werner made it three for Leipzig in the 26th minute with a superb finish.
However, the Nigerian international, who was making 12th appearance in the Bundesliga this season, was yellow-carded in the 33rd minute for a rash challenge on a Leipzig player.
The home team reduced the scoreline to 3-1 thanks to a Streli Mamba’s cool finish in the 62nd minute before Klaus Gjasula netted in the 73rd minute to give Paderborn a slim hope of a comeback. But the team failed to score the needed goal as Leipzig picked the maximum point.
The defeat means Paderborn remain on the bottom of the log in the Bundesliga.
