Newcastle teenager Matthew Longstaff added to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s problems as he marked his Premier League debut with the superb strike that sealed a shock 1-0 win over woeful Manchester United on Sunday.

Solskjaer’s side paid the price for their latest lethargic display as Longstaff bagged his first goal for Newcastle in the second half at St James’ Park.

Soccernet.ng rates the performance of the Man United players against Newcastle United

David De Gea – 6: The Spain international did nothing and couldn’t prevent Matty Longstaff’s winner.

Diogo Dalot – 7: Looked bright going forward and fared well at the back, although did occasionally look defensively suspect in the absence of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Harry Maguire – 6: Missed a key chance and failed to block Matty Longstaff’s thunderbolt strike.

Axel Tuanzebe – 8: The Manchester United star was given a first Premier League start and shackled Joelinton well.

Ashley Young – 6: Too many wayward crosses. Something that was once his specialty is no longer there.

Fred – 3: If he costs £52million, does that mean Scott McTominay is worth double? A shocking performance from the Brazilian.

Scott McTominay – 6: A typically assured performance from the United midfielder.

Andreas Pereira – 5: Given a chance to thrive on the flanks he failed to take it.

Daniel James – 5: The United star was unable to make an impact and could have been booked had Mike Dean been stricter.

Marcus Rashford – 3: He’s not a center-forward, that’s quite evident. An abysmal day for the United hitman.

Juan Mata – 6: Stretched the play well with his movement but his lack of pace was evident for all to see.

Sub:

Mason Greenwood – 5: Did nothing after coming on late in the day.

Marcos Rojo – 5: Should have done better with a header.
