Despite scoring a brace in his side 2-2 draw against Real Madrid last Tuesday, Super Eagles star has missed out on the Champions League player of the week award, with the gong going to Bayern Munich’s Serge Gnabry.

The Nigerian international was nominated for the award following his brilliant show at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday. The 21-year-old scored a brace as Club Brugge flipped the script to pick up an unlikely point against thirteen-time European champions, Real Madrid.

He was nominated alongside Borussia Dortmund’s Achraf Hakimi who also scored a brace in the Black and Yellow’s win over Slavia Prague. Barcelona’s Luis Suarez who scored twice in the Blaugrana’s 2-1 win over Inter Milan was also nominated alongside Hakim Ziyech of Ajax and Bayern Munich Serge Gnabry who eventually took home the award following his four-goal haul in Bayern’s 7-2 victory over Tottenham.

However, Emmanuel Dennis was included in the team of the week which featured established stars like Robert Lewandowski, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.

Dennis will be hoping to continue in this impressive form when Club Brugge take on Gent on Sunday in the Belgian topflight.
