Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer, Alloy Agu has revealed that the Samba Boys of Brazil won’t trigger any fear in the mindset of the Nigerian players when both teams meet in the October 13 international friendly in Singapore.
It will be the first meeting between Nigeria and Brazil at the senior level since the Selecao thrashed the Eagles 3-0 in Abuja 16 years ago in their first-ever meeting.
The match will more than serve as a tune-up for Nigeria, who will face Benin Republic and Lesotho in qualification matches for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in November.
However, Agu, who was part of the Nigerian squad that won the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia, told Soccernet.ng that the Super Eagles won’t be scared to face Brazil regardless of the players they parade.
“We are not really worried about playing Brazil in an international friendly because we have the players that are ready to get the job done for us,” Alloy Agu told Soccernet.ng
“No doubt, it is going to be a good test for the players that have been invited by the Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr, however, it will help the team in all aspects.
“I don’t think we are scared of Brazil. Brazil will always be brazil regardless of the players they parade they parade against Nigeria. Mind you, they are the reigning COPA America champions and you will expect them to play out their hearts.
Brazil are the reigning Copa America champions, after overcoming Peru in the final two months ago, while Nigeria (ranked 33rd by FIFA) finished in third place at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt in July.
