Despite the close of Premier League transfer window, Cheslea are still in the business of conducting transfers. While clubs are not able to sign players following the shutdown of the window, they are allowed to sell players clubs from other leagues.
The window is still opened for clubs in other leagues until September 2nd and can still improve on their squad by bringing in new players.
As a result Italian Serie A club, AS Roma have decided to bring in Chelsea’s Zappacosta on loan for the new season. The Italian international joined the Blues from Torino in 2017, but has struggled to impress at the club.
According to reports, Chelsea are willing to let Zappacosta go because they want Reece Oxford to be the main backup for Cesar Azpilicueta at right-back.
Zappacosta leaving also will enable the club to meet Premier League andf Champions League quota for the number of foreign players a club can have.
