UEFA has announced Eden Hazard as the 2018/19 Europa League Player of the Year at the Europa League draw ceremony held in Monaco on Friday to the displeasure of many football fans.

Chelsea lifted the Europa League trophy at the tail end of last season after defeating London rivals Arsenal 4-1 in the final played in Baku.
Eden Hazard contributed only 2 goals and 1 assist to that campaign, missing a significant chunk of the Blues matches. The Real Madrid winger has however been named the Best Player of that Tournament, ignoring the sizeable contributions of Olivier Giroud who recorded 11 goals and 5 assists in that same tournament.
