Chelsea fans react angrily to Kenneth Omeruo’s sale

The Nigeria international has completed his permanent transfer to Leganes after the London giants agreed a reported £4.6 million fee with the La Liga, but the sale has not gone down well with some of the Blues’ die-hard fans.

Chelsea on Tuesday announced the permanent transfer of Super Eagles defender to the club where he spent last season on loan, making 31 league appearances.

All the best for the future, Kenneth. 👊

However, some Chelsea supporters have taken to the social media site, Twitter, to express their displeasure at the club’s decision to sell a defender who they believe has the resources to help Frank Lampard’s ailing side.

It would be recalled that the west Londoners suffered a bruising 4-0 thrashing at Old Trafford on the opening weekend of the English Premier League with the centre-back pairing of Zouma and Christensen not particularly impressing.

A transfer ban prevented Frank Lampard from bolstering his team during the summer. Fans are however now shocked that the manager continues to sanction the sale of the club’s “better players”, with that of Omeruo particularly increasing the grumblings.

Bastard.. U guys sold him and left Zouma…

You guys can't buy, but keep letting good people go pic.twitter.com/qt8WqHbrk1

He is better than Zouma but you sold him

Honestly, this guy is good enough to play for Chelsea. We should’ve let him stay!! Playing accros 4 competition and we only have 4 defenders…

That's was the longest Chelsea player in the team that never played a competitive game for the club @omeruo22 and suffered so much due to our miserable loan system!!
So please put a respect on his name abeg (Kenneth Josiah Omeruo) 🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬

We don’t even have a pic of him in a Chelsea jersey

Disgusted to see Kenneth leave having been in superb form for both club and country lately. The Chelsea board should sit up in its run of affairs.

Kenneth Omeruo featured for Nigeria at the 2014 and 2018 FIFA World Cups and was a key member of the Super Eagles teams that won gold and bronze medals at the 2013 and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations respectively.
