Arsenal have confirmed Carl Jenkinson has joined Nottingham City on a permanent deal. The England international is the second defender to leave the club in the last 24 hours following the departure of Laurent Koscielny to Bordeaux.

The England international joined the Gunners in 2011 but struggled to really get going. He made a total of 70 appearances for the club, scoring just one goal.

A statement on Arsenal’s website read:  Carl Jenkinson has joined Championship side Nottingham Forest on a permanent deal. The 27-year-old defender began his career with Charlton Athletic before joining us in June 2011. He spent the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons on loan at West Ham United followed by a loan spell at Championship club Birmingham City during the 2017/18 season.

Jenkinson’s exit means the British core of Oxlade Chamberlain, Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and Kieran Gibbs are no more at the club.

Meanwhile, the Gunners are still looking for a centre back before the transfer window shuts on Thursday.  According to reports, Arsenal are hoping to sign Daniele Rugani from Juventus on a two-year loan deal as a replacement for Laurent Koscielny.
