Nigeria vs Tunisia: Rohr Reveals The Goalkeeper For Tonight’s Third Place Clash

Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has hinted that Francis Uzoho will be in goal for the team’s Africa Cup of Nations third-place match against Tunisia on Wednesday night.

Uzoho who was former number one for Nigeria has not had any minutes at the ongoing nations cup with Rohr preferring Kaizer Chiefs star Daniel Akpeyi as his number one choice.

The former Chippa United goalkeeper has been in goal in all but one of Super Eagles matches at the competition. The only time he has was not selected was in the third group B game against Madagascar and then the Super Eagles had already qualified for the knock out stages.

Ikechukwu Ezenwa was selected as the goalkeeper for that game but it highly unlikely to see him get the honour once again against the Carthage Eagles, with Rohr saying he wants to give playing time to players who have not featured at the competition.

The German tactician said this in his press conference ahead of the clash against the 2004 champions.  However, he revealed he would not be making too many changes as they want to leave the tournament on a high.  “We have used 21 players & it will be interesting to see all 23 players play”.

“We always take our games seriously even against Madagascar although we thought to give game time to some players. We are well motivated to win against a Tunisia who are ranked higher than us”.

” This team is still very young & deserves to continue together. I think we will see all 23 players play even though they might not start”.

Rohr: This team is still very young & deserves to continue together. I think we will see all 23 players play even though they might not start. It's difficult for a 3rd choice GK to play but I know how difficult it must feel for a player being in a tournament and not play.
