Simy can be Super Eagles no. 9 – Ikpeba

Ex-international, Victor Ikpeba has backed Super Eagles striker, Simy Nwankwo to prove his mettle as a good striker if given the chance to start for Nigeria.

The Croton star, who had just few minutes of play at the just concluded FIFA World Cup, showed some glimpse of what to expect from him ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The Atlanta Olympic gold medallist told Soccernet.ng that Simy should be given the courage to lead Nigeria’s attack against Seychelles.

There is always need for coaches to keep trying a particular player until he gets to that level where he’ll be ripe enough to explode

I wasn’t really convinced with the performance of Odion Ighalo at the World Cup and I am simply hoping that we try other strikers who are scoring goals in the Nigeria Professional League Football (NPFL), and those plying their trade in Europe.

Simy has what it takes to excel in the Super Eagles because he has a good sight for goals. – Victor Ikpeba | Soccernet.ng

This is just the simple tactical truth. He his a complete striker all he needs is just the responsibility to lead the attack. Iheanacho and Ighalo cannot do it because they are not NO 9. So the coach has the platform to change things positively. Good one Prince of Monaco
