Antoine Griezmann has extended his contract for one more season, until June 30, 2023, with Atletico Madrid thus ending any chance of making a switch to Barcelona or even the Premier League where he is rumoured to be on the wish list of the likes of Manchester United.
Griezmann arrived at Atlético de Madrid in the summer of 2014 from Real Sociedad and started his first season conquering the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid (1-1 and 1-0). He played a total of 53 official matches, scoring 25 goals and giving 6 assists.
In the 2015-16 campaign, the French striker played 54 official matches, scoring 32 goals, seven of them in the Champions League, and handed out 7 assists.
He also shone with his team that summer at the Eurocup in France, where he was proclaimed the best player in the tournament and finished as the Golden Boot of the competition with 6 goals.
In the 2016-17 season, the French international striker returned to an enormous level, playing 53 games, scoring 26 goals, six in the Champions League, and assisting his teammates 12 times.
Griezmann has once again been one of the great protagonists of the team in the recently concluded season. The Frenchman has participated in 49 official meetings, scoring 29 goals and distributing a total of 15 assists.
