With his contract almost expired at Manchester City, Ivorian Midfielder Yaya Toure has said he would like to rejoin his former club FC Barcelona.
Yaya left Barcelona to join Manchester City in July 2010 on a five-year deal, for not having much playing time at the Spanish side under Pep Guardiola who happens to be the current coach at City.
After making it know that he will be leaving the English side during the summer transfer window, Yaya has received offers from clubs in Europe, China and America, but the Midfielder has said if Barcelona will have him, he’s ready to return.
“I would head back to Barcelona,” Toure told El Larguero.
“If Barcelona calls me, I will go for sure, they are the best team.
“I miss [Lionel] Messi and [Andres] Iniesta. Barcelona has been the most important team of my life. They have given me humility, experience and the knowledge of how to behave on the field.”
Toure also talked about the possibility of reuniting with Andreas Iniesta in Asia.
“He is a formidable person. I need to send him a message to see if we will see each other in China or wherever.”
“Going through the door with history is important,” he added.
“I will see what happens next year because I want to enjoy another year or two. That’s the best for me.”
Yaya Toure has spent eight seasons at Manchester City, scoring a total of 59 goals from 230 appearances. He also won seven trophies at the club including three EPL title, one FA Cup, two League Cups and one community shield.
